Neil Ridley


Neil Ridley is an award-winning food and drinks writer and presenter.

He is the author of eight books on spirits and cocktails including ‘Distilled’, which won the Fortnum & Mason Drinks Book of the Year and is published in 16 languages, the ‘World Atlas of Gin’ and the best-selling ’60 Second Cocktails’.

He also wrote ‘Hot Sauce – a fiery guide to 101 of the Worlds Best Sauces’, published by Hardie Grant in 2023.

His latest books, ‘The Crisp Sommelier’ and ‘The Picky Bits Sommelier’ (Bloomsbury Publishing) have also been No 1 Bestsellers, with ‘The Crisp Sommelier’ becoming the biggest-selling book about drinks in the UK in 2024. His next book ‘The Crisp Compendium’ will be published by Bloomsbury in 2027.

Neil is also a correspondent for Wallpaper magazine and a contributor to The Daily Telegraph and Decanter magazine.

He is also a presenter and host, having worked in both live and pre-recorded TV for the past 13 years, being a long-running drinks expert on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch. He has also appeared on BBC’s Saturday Kitchen and ITV’s This Morning and has hosted brand films, social media campaigns and at launch events, exhibitions and conferences.

Neil received the Freedom of the City of London for his contribution to food & drink writing and is a Liveryman of the Distillers Guild, a Keeper of the Quaich (one of the highest accolades in Scotch Whisky) and an inducted member of the Gin Guild and Compagnie des Mousquetaires d’Armagnac.
